Janie Carol Howlett Maxwell

Janie Carol Howlett Maxwell, age 86 of Pulaski, died Saturday evening, January 3, 2026 at Commonwealth Senior Living in Fairlawn. She was born in Pulaski on September 19, 1939, and was the daughter of the late Flora Kathrine Reynolds Howlett and the late Elmond Johnny Howlett, Sr.
Janie was a member of New Haven Ministries on Miller Lane in Pulaski. She was a proud graduate of the Pulaski High School, class of 1958, and worked in the school’s office during her school years. During her entire clerical career, she worked and managed a nursing school at the old Pulaski Hospital, worked for Dr. James Hylton, managed the local credit union, and retired from the office manager of Huff Petroleum.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Houston Robert Maxwell, a half-brother, C.L. Crawford and a sister-in-law; Lavern Howlett.
She is survived by her brother, Elmond “Johnny” Howlett, Jr. of Pulaski: a sister; Janet Blankenship of Vinton: a half-sister: Lynn Johnson: a step-daughter, Tracy Miller and her husband Steve of Woodlawn, and a step-grandson; Brett Miller of Kansas City, Kansas, and is also survived by three nephews: Kelly Howlett and his wife Kandace, Clayton “Clay” Howlett and his wife Kelly Sue, and Chad Howlett and his wife Angie.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, January 7, 2026 at 1:00 p.m. at Seagle Funeral Home with Pastor Bobby Osborne officiating. Interment will follow in Memorial Christian Church Cemetery in Draper. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, January 7, 2026 at Seagle Funeral Home from 12 Noon until 1:00 p.m.

Janie and I went to school together. She was so friendly and well liked. So sorry to hear of her passing, but after the resurrection the entire class of 1958 can meet again. All healthy and happy.
