Jason Anton Gibbs

Jason Anton Gibbs, age 93, of Pulaski, passed away peacefully on Friday, July 10, 2026, with his family by his side.

 

Born March 3, 1933, in Fairfield County, South Carolina, he was the son of the late Jason Latt Gibbs and Callie Drew Gibbs. He was also preceded in death by his son, Dennis Dean Gibbs; his brothers, Thomas “Tommie” Gibbs, Edward “Ned” Gibbs, and Gerald “Mark” Gibbs; and his sisters, Sarah Alsaker and Bettie Vaughn.

 

He is survived by his loving wife of 70 years, Daisy Hodges Gibbs of Pulaski. He is also

survived by his daughters Cynthia “Cindy” Sparks of Pulaski, and Laura Gibbs of Roanoke; grandchildren Avery Gibbs (Valerie), Morgan Sparks (Miguel), Daisy Steele, Lindsi Sparks; great grandchildren CoraLyn Gibbs and Addilyn Cockerham.

 

After graduating from Richmond Professional Institute with a major in accounting, he started his career with the C.P.A. firm Ernst and Ernst in Richmond, Virginia. He worked there approximately four and a half years and then went to work for North American Assurance Society as Chief Financial Officer where he worked another four years.

 

In 1968, Jason and his family moved to Pulaski, so he could start working for Pulaski Furniture Corporation. He served as Chief Financial Officer and Assistant Secretary. He retired in 1998 as Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer after 29 years of service.

 

Jason was a United States Air Force veteran and a private pilot. He was also a flight instructor with several aviation ratings including commercial, single, and multi-engine certifications.

 

Jason’s favorite hobbies were flying his airplane, playing basketball, or riding his

motorcycle. He also loved ballroom dancing and clogging.

 

He flew his airplane to many places across the country, including Grand Teton National Park and Texas to visit his mother and brother. He used to take quick day trips to the beach so he could swim in the ocean and eat a good seafood dinner. He rode his motorcycle from east coast to west coast. Some of the well-known places he rode to included Canada, Key West, and Mount Rushmore.

 

The family would like to thank Medi Home Health and Hospice for their kindness and care. We would also like to thank Americare Plus and their wonderful caregivers – Angelia Spence, Linda Taylor, and Cathy Sutphin. They all took excellent care of Jason, and it was greatly appreciated.

 

We would like to give special thanks to our private caregiver, Faith Collier, for her dedication and excellent care of Jason.

 

A private graveside service was held on Friday, July 17, 2026, at Highland Memory Gardens in Dublin, Virginia. The service was officiated by Joe Blankenship.
