Jason Ballard Statement on Securing Republican Nomination for Virginia House District 12

PEARISBURG, Virginia – On Thursday, March 18th, Jason Ballard has released a statement upon securing the Republican nomination for the 12th House District. His statement follows the announcement Monday that he was the only candidate to file and no additional applications were submitted. Jason has released the following statement:
“Those who know me understand that I have always fought for what I believe in. It is something I’ve done from the battlefield serving as an Army JAG officer, to the court room as a civilian trial lawyer, and to Town Council – we need someone who actually understands the needs of our area and cares about the people of the 12th District. It is humbling to receive this nomination and I could not be more grateful. I am ready to get to work and fight for our values.”
In response, Virginia House Minority Leader Todd Gilbert has issued the following statement:
“The voter enthusiasm in the 12th District to replace Del. Chris Hurst is fantastic. While a number of candidates expressed interest in running, Jason Ballard is the only candidate to have properly filed with the local district committee as of the nomination deadline, making him our nominee. I thank the local district committee for their hard work, openness and transparency in this process, and look forward to working with them and Jason Ballard to see that the people of the 12th District finally have a Delegate who represents their views, and not the views of the Democratic leaders in Fairfax County.”
Jason is a trial lawyer with the law firm of Headley Ballard LLC and is licensed to practice law in Virginia and West Virginia. He is also a Lieutenant Colonel in the US Army JAG Corps. Jason resides in Pearisburg, Virginia, with his wife, Catherine, and they have four children, Sydney, William, James, and John Thomas. Jason is a member of the Pearisburg First United Methodist Church and serves on the Pearisburg Town Council. He also volunteers his time to serve as a coach and on multiple community committees.
