Johnson City wins Appalachian League Championship, 8-6 over Burlington

Despite committing five errors during the game, the Johnson City Cardinals beat the Burlington Royals tonight, 8-6 to win the 2019 Appalachian League Championship series, two games to one.

Trailing 5-4, Johnson City scored 4 runs in the top of the seventh to take the lead for good.

This is Johnson City’s fifth Appy League title this decade, having won 2010, ’11, ’14, ’16 and now ’19. The Cards have won nine total.

The game was played before a lowly attendance of only 427.
