July 4th, 2026 Veterans Remembrance Ceremony details released
Pulaski County’s Veterans Remembrance Ceremony will be held this year on July 4th at 12 noon in the Pulaski Theatre, located at 14 West Main Street, Pulaski, Virginia. This annual event is sponsored by the Pulaski County Board of Supervisors and the Pulaski County Courthouses Exhibits Committee and is held to honor and pay tribute to our veterans and active duty military service members.
As we celebrate America’s 250th birthday this year, the program for this event will feature the portrayal of local Revolutionary War soldiers and other noted individuals who lived in what is now Pulaski County during the Revolutionary War. Members of the Courthouses Exhibits Committee will be dressing in period clothing of the Revolutionary War, and the public is invited to join them by wearing attire of this era as well. Other items on the program include a patriotic 250th quilt presentation to the Board of Supervisors from the Draper Art & Quilt Collective, singing by the Wilderness Road Chorus, bag pipe playing by Andrew Meeks, a 21 gun salute by the SW Virginia Veterans Cemetery Honor Guard, with the playing of “Taps” by Kevin Faller, Pulaski County High School Band Director, Old Historic Courthouse Heritage Museum tours, and refreshments.
Further, representatives from the Virginia Department of Veterans Services and the SW Virginia Veterans Cemetery will be available to provide veterans with benefit information and assistance. They will be located on the front lawn of the Old Historic Courthouse shortly before and after the ceremony.
Once the ceremony has concluded, the Courthouses Exhibits Committee members will be conducting tours of the Old Courthouse Heritage Museum and officially opening a new military display entitled “Women in Wartime”. This exhibit focuses on the role women have played
through the years during times of war, both on and off the battlefields, and includes displays of many military items belonging to local women such as military uniforms, pictures, medals, pins, documents, etc.
Please make plans to join us on July 4th as we honor our local veterans and members of our military and celebrate our nation’s 250th birthday.
