Butch was a farmer for some 60 years working for Neuhoff Farms and Dalton Farms. He loved the land and worked tirelessly each and every day, never complaining. It takes a special man to be a farmer and that was certainly Butch. A farmer’s life is made up of 24 hrs a day no matter what the weather.
Butch was always there for his family doing anything they ask of him and had a heart of gold. His strength and grit was evident because his parents instilled in him that hard work was the way it was. He was always humble and kind and treated everyone with a caring heart. He will always be remembered as a man of integrity, kindness to others, a smile on his face and a special love for his family.
Butch’s cattle and sheep all had names and they would watch for him to come in his truck and start heading toward the barn. He had them all spoiled. He also had many barn cats on the farm which he named each and every one. They all knew he would take care of them. Also, Sally was a very special dog friend.
Special friends were Donnie and Sherry Sutphin, Bob Priest, Brooke Priest Buckner and Teddy Dalton who he worked for and along side him for some 34 years.
We would like to thank Roanoke Memorial Hospital Pallative Care and Hospice Care for the love and amazing care that was given to Butch and Marsha. Brooke Priest Buckner, Bailee, Marcie, Amber and Kelly were Gods loving angels.
Services will be July 2 nd , 2026 at Horne Funeral Home in Christiansburg, Va. Visitation is from 4:00 P.M. -5:00 P.M. and a Celebration of his Life at 5:00.
