Lady Cougars softball falls to Blacksburg, 3-1

The Pulaski County Lady Cougars fell behind early and couldn’t come back in a 3-1 girls softball loss to Blacksburg on Thursday.

Blacksburg scored on an error, a double by Emily Dickerson, and a single by Aubrey Hudgins in the first inning.

The pitching was strong on both sides. Blacksburg pitchers struck out nine, while Pulaski County sat down nine.

In the first inning, Blacksburg got their offense started. An error scored one run for the Lady Bruins.

Evelyn Rhoads was in the pitcher’s circle for Blacksburg. The hurler went four innings, allowing one run on five hits, striking out six and walking one.

Laken Greever started the game for Pulaski County. The pitcher lasted six innings, allowing seven hits and three runs while striking out nine and walking one.

The Lady Cougars totaled six hits. Emily Webb and Lauren Cruise both collected multiple hits for Pulaski County.

Blacksburg racked up seven hits on the day. Dickerson and Mia Farley each had multiple hits for Blacksburg. Blacksburg didn’t commit a single error in the field. Alexis Synder had the most chances in the field with nine.

With the loss, Pulaski County drops to 10-8 on the season and 4-6 in the River Ridge District.
