Lewis Wallace “Peewee” Riddle

Lewis Wallace “Peewee” Riddle, 79, beloved husband, dad, and grandfather, of the Little Creek Community of Pulaski County, passed away due to long illness at Pulaski Health and Rehab on June 5th, 2026. Born July 21, 1946 in Giles County, VA, he was the son of the late Lewis Franklin & Hattie Elizabeth Stephens Riddle.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by 4 siblings, Shelby “Peg” Goble, Earnest “Punch” Riddle, Mary Woodyard, and Lois “Tiny” Morris and one granddaughter, Chelsea Riddle.
Lewis attended Little Creek Apostolic Church for many years. He had a deep love for church and his church family. He drove transit for Pulaski County for many years. He was well known for his love of Jesus Christ and his smiling face.
He never had a hate bone in his body. He loved hard and he spread the gospel to anyone and everyone. He was an amazing father, and friend to many. But, his favorite title was known as papaw, and “DR. Papaw”, to the great-grandkids; because he could fix anything to them. He got married to the love of his life to the late Sallie Wall Riddle on November, 23rd of 1966; they were married for 56 years.
Those left to cherish his memory are his daughter Tammy and husband Robbie Miller of Dublin, VA; Son, Terry Riddle of Wytheville VA; and daughter Crystal and husband Rosco Gunter of Alta, WV; 5 grandkids who he loved dearly. – Shane and wife Angela Miller of Pulaski, VA, Ashlyn and husband Kevin Martin of Dublin, VA, Katelyn Smith and husband Timmy Smith of Alderson, WV, Madelyn Crigger of Rich Creek, VA, And Braden Crigger of Alta, WV; 4 great-grandkids, who had him wrapped around their fingers, Timothy “Junior” Smith, Amelia Furgeson, Sallie Smith, and Lewis Crigger.
Brother and sisters: James “Jimmy” Riddle, Eva and husband Albert Woodyard, Arnold Riddle, Brenda and husband Larry Woodyard and Ronnie and wife Faye Riddle all of Dublin, VA; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family, friends and his special dogs; “Bullet”, “Marley”, and “Winston”.
Included with all the people who called him papaw, he was tickled when more people called him papaw.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, June 9, 2026 at 2:00 P.M. at A. Vest & Sons Funeral Home Chapel, with Bro. John Thornsberry officiating. Burial will follow in the Hunter’s Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 12:00 P.M. until service time, 2:00 P.M.
Serving as pallbearers are Robbie Miller, Kevin Martin, Shane Miller, Timothy Smith, Braden Crigger, and Justin Martin.
The family wants to express their sincere thanks to Pulaski Health and Rehab for all the care they gave to Lewis. Especially, Madison his nurse who did an amazing job with him.
