LewisGale Hospital Pulaski has awarded Dr. John Bollig, Emergency Medicine, with the hospital’s distinguished Compass Award for the third quarter in 2025. Dr. Bollig is routinely recognized by hospital colleagues and grateful patients for his exceptional care. In his nomination, team members shared a story where he provided superior care to a young man with a severe back injury. With a calm demeanor, quick decision making, and a collaborative approach, Dr. Bollig provided critical, life-saving care, helping provide a better overall outcome for the patient. A patient recently detailed their own experience with Dr. Bollig to the hospital’s administration team, noting that Dr. Bollig’s excellent bedside manner made the patient feel valued and respected. The patient went on to say, “Dr. Bollig, along with the team of nurses, was very kind and professional and it was a comfort to be in his care. He has a remarkable ability to make you feel like you genuinely matter and is an amazing doctor in every sense.”

The LewisGale Hospital Pulaski Compass Award is given to a physician who demonstrates empathy, compassion, exceptional communication, clinical aptitude, or something else that positively impacts the care provided to one or more our patients. The Compass Award represents guiding patient care, providing direction and helping navigate the most challenging of times.
