Man dies, woman hospitalized following lawn mower, vehicle collision in Pulaski

A man died Tuesday after a lawn mower he and another individual were riding on collided with a vehicle on Lee Highway at Northwood Drive in Pulaski.

Pulaski Police Chief Jill Neice reported in a press release Wednesday that officers responded Tuesday at 8:16 p.m. to Lee Highway at Northwood Drive in Pulaski in reference to a traffic accident involving a vehicle and a lawn mower.

Upon arrival, officers located a male and a female with injuries.

The male and female were both transported to LewisGale Pulaski Hospital. The male later succumbed to his injuries. The female was airlifted to Roanoke Memorial Hospital and remains in critical condition.

Both individuals were passengers on the lawn mower. The vehicle driver and passenger did not sustain any injuries.

Detectives from Pulaski PD and the Virginia State Police Crash Reconstruction Team responded to the scene of the accident. The initial investigation, as well as witness testimony on scene, indicated that the male and female were traveling on Northwood Drive on the lawn mower, failed to stop at the stop sign at Lee Highway, and collided into the side of the vehicle.

There are no pending charges for this accident.
