Man held in murder of woman in Dublin

A man is being held in New River Valley Regional Jail in the murder death of a woman in Dublin.

Dublin Police Chief Dennis Lambert reported today that on Monday, March 21 at approximately 04:21 p.m., Dublin Police Department responded to the Briarwood Apartments in reference to a well being check.

Upon arrival, contact was made with a male subject in D Building apartment 303 and entry was made.

At that time, a deceased female was located inside the apartment. No other individuals were located in the  apartment and the male subject, that initial contact was made with, was detained.

After a preliminary investigation, the male subject was subsequently charged with Second Degree Murder and transported to the New River Valley Regional Jail where he was held without bond.

This is an ongoing investigation and family members are still being notified and due to this, there will be no further information released at this time.

This is believed to be an isolated incident and there is not considered to be any danger to the public.
