Meet This Week’s Patriot: Len Smith

Len Smith proudly served in the Korean War and was in the Army from 1954 to 1956. When he came out of the military he went to work for Hercules in Utah and was later transferred to the Hercules Plant (also known as the Radford Army Ammunition Plant) here where he was a research developer and environmental engineer. He also helped with the Minute Man missiles and worked for Hercules for 28 years. He also raised horses for around 28 years. Len is an avid craftsman and makes handmade jewelry which he sales at a variety of different venues and he can be seen setting up at the Radford Farmers Market on Saturdays. He bowls in a league at the NRV Super Bowl in Christiansburg, and he is a very active member of the Dublin American Legion Post 58.
