Monday is Last Day to Register for Annual Genealogy Workshop

Registration closes at 9 AM on Monday for a Genealogy Workshop to be held on Saturday, May 18, 8 AM – 4:30 PM, at Dublin Christian Church, 5605 Dunlap Road, Dublin, VA.  The event is sponsored by Wilderness Road Regional Museum and the New River Historical Society.

Sessions for the day will help attendees get started on genealogical research or move further in already established projects. They will learn to read old handwriting and use maps and land records; they will also learn about new findings in DNA research.  Presenters for the workshop will be Janie Dillon, a researcher and instructor in genealogical research; Tony Mitchell, a 32-year employee of Appalachian Power Company and expert in land surveying; and Robert S. Lockett, Jr., past president of the Wythe County Genealogical and Historical Association.

All are invited to register for this event. A registration fee of $50 is due by 9 AM Monday. It may be paid on-line at www.eventbrite.com by searching for Genealogy Workshop. Registration may also be brought to the Wilderness Road Regional Museum during hours of operation, on Saturday 10:30-4:30.
