More details on next weekend’s Music and Merchants Festival
The Town of Pulaski is proud to sponsor the second annual Music and Merchants Festival in Downtown Pulaski. This year’s festival will be held on Saturday, May 18th from 4 p.m. to 10 p.m. on West Main Street and Jefferson Avenue. This nighttime event will be held rain or shine, so plan accordingly. Each year, the Music and Merchants Festival partners with a local non-profit as a fundraising opportunity. This year, all proceeds will directly benefit the Pulaski Theatre.
The Music and Merchants Festival is presented by the Town of Pulaski and Pulaski County Is. Other event sponsors include including Medi Home Health and Hospice, Atmos Energy, State Farm Insurance, the Pulaski County Patriot and First Community Bank. Without the support of these sponsors, volunteers and Town staff, it would not be possible to hold events such as Music and Merchants.
The 2019 Music and Merchants Festival will be jam packed with fun for all ages. For those looking for unique gifts and goodies, there will be over 50 scheduled vendors setting up to sell handmade jewelry, art, clothing and other items. For the foodies, there are eight food trucks joining this year’s event. Thai This, Creek Bottom Brews, Big Roosters BBQ, Snack Time, Ol’ Skool Concessions, Nana’s Sweets and Treats, Susie’s Funnel Cakes and Wiffle Pops will be serving up a wide variety of tasty treats. Iron Heart Winery, Damascus Brewery, Old Salem Brewing Co. and Studio Brew will be pouring a wide array of flavorful artisan and craft beers and wines. Along with the food and drink, live music will be provided throughout the event by several local bands. Jimothy will open the stage at 5 p.m., with One Side Missing providing evening entertainment and The Antecedents closing out the night. All three groups play a large variety of music, so look forward to good tunes that everyone can enjoy. The Music and Merchants Festival is family-friendly with a kid’s zone full of fun activities for children to enjoy. Leashed, friendly dogs are welcomed to the event. A doggie way station will be available on West Main Street.
Even though this is only the second annual Music and Merchants Festival, it is already becoming a staple among residents. Chris Conner, a local resident himself, is the mastermind behind the organization of the festival. When asked why he wanted to put on this annual festival, Mr. Conner replied “There is a resurgence happening in Pulaski. We have new energy, brought on by the hard work and dedication of our Town’s leaders. It is time to get behind them, push our boundaries and take pride in what we have to offer citizens. Events like Music and Merchants are important to a community. They bring happiness and joy to people. They attract our neighbors to come down and have a look at what is going on. I am very proud to call Pulaski home and I look forward to continuing to contribute to our Town’s success.”
