Musicians Ashlee Watkins & Andrew Small to Perform in The Glencoe Sessions

Radford, VA—Ashlee Watkins & Andrew Small will take the stage for the second installment of “The Glencoe Sessions” on Friday, October 2nd, from 6 PM to 7:30 PM. Tickets are $15 each and available for purchase online and in person while supplies last. Doors open at 5:30 PM.

 

Ashlee Watkins & Andrew Small make music from a time when old-time, bluegrass, and country shared the same stage. Shifting between fiddle, banjo, mandolin, and guitars, they bring enduring classics and original songs to life with close harmony singing that has moved audiences around the world. They are regulars at Southwest Virginia’s fiddlers’ conventions — earning top prizes in band and individual contests at Galax, Mount Airy, and the Appalachian String Band Festival in Clifftop, WV.

 

“The Glencoe Sessions” is hosted by Friends of the Blue Ridge and Glencoe Mansion and is curated by rising bluegrass star Addie Levy. The series provides for an intimate listening experience with a diverse array of musical talent from our Blue Ridge region. “The Glencoe Sessions” takes place first Fridays from September through December. Coming up in November we’ll have a performance by Addie Levy as she reunites with Gravel Road. The season will close in December with Justin Golden

 

FRIENDS of the Blue Ridge, established in 1988, is a nonprofit organization dedicated to fostering vibrant communities in the Blue Ridge that celebrate the area’s unique culture, natural beauty and quality of life. They do so by empowering volunteer groups, organizations and municipalities to coordinate special projects and events.

 

Glencoe Mansion is the historic 1875 residence of Gen. Gabriel C. and Nannie Radford Wharton and is now home to a dynamic community museum. “The Glencoe Sessions” are held inside the beautifully restored period rooms where the audience can appreciate the history and beauty of the house while also enjoying music inspired by the history of the region.
