Obituary for Andrew Jackson “Jack” Spradlin

Andrew Jackson “Jack” Spradlin, age 90 of Pulaski, passed away Sunday, September 3, 2023. He was preceded in death by his parents Earl Jackson Spradlin and Pauline Martin Spradlin and three brothers, John Edward, Charles Franklin and Donald Lee Spradlin.

 

He is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 71 years Joann Caldwell Spradlin and daughter, Jackie Laverne Adkins.

 

Jack was a veteran of the United States Army, serving in Korean conflict from 1948-1952 as sergeant first class with the 25th Division, 21st Automatic Weapons. He worked for 40 years at the Radford Army Ammunition Plant and was supervisor in the finishing area before retiring. He was a member of the Masonic Henry Clay Lodge, Chapter 280, for 43 years where he served as Grand Master three times and organized walks to raise money for the Alzheimer Association. He was a member of the Grand Chapter Royal Arch Masons where he served as District Deputy in the state of Virginia, the John Dove Meritorious Service Award. He was also a member of the Dublin Baptist Church.

 

In his spare time Jack enjoyed wood crafting, making beautiful works of art that he gave to his friends and family members and even those he didn’t know. He made toys for children and in return he enjoyed the blessing of their precious laughter. His main goal in life was to make people happy and to help others any way he could. He was a giving person and never met a stranger.

 

Memorial services will be held Tuesday, 2:00 p.m., September 12,2023 in the Bower Funeral Home-Chapel, Pulaski with Pastor Shahn Wilburn officiating. Visiting will take place one hour prior to the services. Visitation will be held Tuesday from 1:00 p.m. until service time.

Entombment will take place at the Southwest Virginia Veterans Cemetery in Dublin, VA.
