Obituary for Billie Gene Dillon Farmer

Billie Gene Dillon Farmer, age 89 of Pulaski, died Wednesday August 2, 2023, at her residence, after an extended illness.  She was born in the White Gate Community of Giles County, on October 1, 1933, and was the daughter of the late Willie Eaton Dillon and the late Raymond Eugene Dillon.

 

She received her public-school education in Pulaski and graduated from Pulaski High School with the class of 1950.  She earned a Bachelor of Science degree from Radford College in 1954 and a master’s degree in 1970.  She taught 36 years at the Pulaski County High School, teaching business and typing. She was the chairman of the business department until her retirement.  She was the director of the Cooperative Operatives Education program for many years and was an active member of the various organizations relating to her profession.  She was also a long-time member of the First United Methodist Church.

 

Survivors include several cousins and their families:  James D. Eaton and his wife Barbara of Chester, Virginia, William H. Dillon of Staunton, Mary D. Lyons of Roanoke, Larry Dillon of Lancaster, PA, and Robert R. Dillon of Roanoke.

 

Funeral services will be held on Monday, August 14, 2023, at 1:00 p.m. at Seagle Funeral Home, with the Rev. Dr. Joshua Kilbourne officiating.  Pallbearers will be Dr. Jon Fleenor, Honorable Mike Fleenor, Dan Grubb, Michael Price, Darwin Smith, and Steve Burcham.  A private interment will be held at Highland Memory Gardens in Dublin. The family will receive friends on Monday August 14, 2023, at Seagle Funeral Home from 12 noon until 1:00 p.m.
