Obituary for Bobbie “Bob” Eugene Smith

smith bobbie eugeneBobbie “Bob” Eugene Smith, age 88 of Claytor Lake, passed away Thursday, November 3, at his residence.  He was born on June 5, 1934 in Radford, and was the 6th child of Roy Glenn Smith and Ann Belle Famer Smith.

Bob was a long-time member of the Mt. View United Methodist Church, and a veteran of the United States Air Force, retiring with the rank of Master Sergeant with 22 years of service.  He was proud to have dedicated his life to his country for that length of his life.  Most of his military service was spent overseas.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers and two sisters.

He is left to cherish and honor his memory is his wife of 44 years, Shirley Smith:  sons; Jonathan G. (Monica) Smith of Hawaii; Greg (Denise) Bolden of Pulaski; Jeff Bolden of Draper:  Daughter Tina Trice of Richmond: brother; Danny (Barbara) Smith of Panama City, FL: grandchildren; Jessica Bolden, Breyona Sherman, Leigh Anne Whiten, Niki Wall, Jonathan Bolden, Isabella Smith, Jonathan Smith, David Au:  6 great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews, and many cousins.

Bob flew as high as 60,000 feet in the Air Force, and, “is now flying on a higher plane.”

Graveside funeral services will be held on Thursday, November 10, 2022 at 2:00 p.m. at Mt. View United Methodist Church Cemetery with military honors provided by the United States Air Force.  Honorary pallbearers will be Jon Smith, Greg Bolden, Jeff Bolden, Jonathan Bolden, and Cody Whitten, Greg Smith.  The family will receive friends on Wednesday, November 9, 2022 at Seagle Funeral Home from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m.  Flowers will be appreciated, but those who wish, may make memorial contributions in Bob’s memory to Disabled American Veterans or to the charity of your choice.  Online condolences may be sent to the family by visiting www.seaglefuneralhome.com  Arrangements by Seagle Funeral Home, Pulaski.  540-980-1700
