Obituary for Catherine Oreta Webb Yelton

Catherine Oreta Webb Yelton, age 88, of Pulaski, was embraced by our Lord and taken to her eternal home on May 5, 2019. She is preceded in death by her parents Mary Virginia and Larson Sparrell Webb, brothers John Walter “Jake” Webb, Marvin Douglas “Bud” Webb and a much-loved cousin Alberta Ayers. She leaves to cherish her memory her husband of 68 years, Claude Finley Yelton and children Claudia Yelton (Frank) of Richmond, Kimberley Price (Ted) of Manakin Sabot, Lance Yelton (Amy) of Pulaski; four grandsons, Logan McPherson (Stacy), Evan McPherson, Brady Price, Caleb Yelton and one granddaughter Caroline Yelton; one step grandson Brian Pangelinan (Christy), five great grandsons Cooper, Holden, Chandler, Bentley and Landen McPherson; one step great grandson, Conner Pangelinan; brother Richard Webb as well as many nieces and nephews. Mrs. Yelton attended Pulaski High School and New River Valley Community College. She was employed by Jefferson Mills and later by Radford Army Ammunition Plant in the Human Resources Department. Mrs. Yelton was a long -time member of Memorial Baptist Church where she sang in the choir and served as a Sunday School teacher.  She served on the executive board of the Pulaski Christian and Professional Women’s Council of Stonecroft Ministries. She was a regional representative as well as a motivational speaker where she shared with others her love for Christ. She was a dedicated member of the Sunset Hills Garden Club where she served as President. Mrs. Yelton enjoyed making beautiful ceramics with her friends in her earlier years and was an avid bridge player and a member of several bridge clubs. In retirement, she and her cherished Claude spent many winters in Florida with friends where she loved to collect shells and take long walks on the beach. One of her favorite past times in later years was meeting with her coffee club friends for fellowship, storytelling and reminiscing.  She was truly a Southern lady in manner and spirit. The family will receive friends Wednesday evening at Seagle Funeral Home in Pulaski from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. as well as at Memorial Baptist Church in Pulaski on Thursday beginning at 1:00 p.m. with the funeral service following at 2:00 p.m. Interment will be held at the Southwest Virginia Veterans Cemetery in Dublin.
