Obituary for Chad Frank Van Patten

Chad Frank Van Patten was born January 29, 1964 and passed away in his sleep on May 25, 2021. As a young man, Chad served on the USS Kinkaid Navy Destroyer where his height was listed as 6 ft 4 ½ inches so he wouldn’t exceed the limit. He became very good at ducking. When he came back to Springville, Utah, he started doing road construction mostly as a roller operator and was a union member of Operating Engineers Local 3. He spent 37 years laying asphalt all over the Intermountain West. He was working in Fillmore, Utah, at the time of his passing. He had many lifelong friends and was known for his giving nature. Chad was a kind person who was always thinking of others. He will be missed by so many.

Mourning his loss are his mother Teresa “Teri” Dart Van Patten of Pulaski, VA, brother Brian Van Patten, sister-in-law Virginia, and nephew Spencer of Springville, UT, and sister Susan Van Patten of Snowville, Virginia. He is preceded in death by his father Frank Van Patten and brother Carl Van Patten.

Services will be held on Monday, June 7th at 10:00 a.m. in the Village Chapel, 3091 Greenbriar Road, Draper, Virginia. Guests are invited afterwards to the Fellowship Hall downstairs for light refreshments.

A Celebration of Life will be held at Salem Pond, Utah, in August. In lieu of flowers, please send prayers and do an act of kindness for someone else.
