Obituary for David Charles Stanley
David Charles Stanley, 85, of Dublin, Virginia, died on January 4, 2019. He was born in Evanston, Illinois on March 28, 1933, and grew up in Fort Payne, Alabama. After graduating from Veterinary School at Auburn University, he came to Dublin in 1957 to work at Dublin Animal Hospital. He later purchased the practice and built additional veterinary clinics in Wytheville and West Radford. He retired from practicing Veterinary medicine after 47 years and began a second career as a potter which he enjoyed for an additional 20 years.
He was preceded in death by his parents, 2 brothers, and a sister. He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Alecia Apperson Stanley, 5 children, Tal, Tim, Amy, Meg, and Tom, and their spouses, 14 grandchildren, his sister-in-law, 9 nieces and nephews, and many great nieces and nephews.
He was an active member of Dublin United Methodist Church where he worshipped and served faithfully for 62 years. The family will receive friends at the church on Friday, January 11 from 5pm to 8pm and will gather for a Service of Worship Celebrating his life on Saturday morning, January 12, at 11:00.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Dublin United Methodist Church Mission Fund, The Free Clinic of Pulaski County, or the Salvation Army.

I am so sorry to hear about Mr. Stanley’s passing he was always so kind to my family especially my children he will be missed. I have no doubt that he has a beautiful heavenly home waiting

Dr. Stanley was one of the most wonderful human beings I have ever known in my lifetime. He saved my pony’s life when I was a teenager and he hired me to work for him when I got out of high school. I adored working for him until my husband was burnt in a horrific accident . He was a true angel in my eyes and I know Heaven rejoices to have his light shine there until we all meet again. My heart goes out to the family and friends who love him, as he can never be replaced or forgotten.
