Obituary for Donald Fredrick Burnette
Donald Fredrick Burnette, age 81 of Pulaski, Virginia, went to be with his Lord on June 8, 2019, after a long battle with Parkinson’s disease. He was born April 24, 1938, to the late Charles and Molly Burnette. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sons, Samuel Tony Burnette and Mark Burnette and six brothers and five sisters. He was employed at Burlington Industries, Findley Industries and retired from the Virginia Department of Corrections. He was also a military veteran (U.S. Army) and was proud to have served his country.
He is survived by the love of his life, his wife of 53 years, Martha Vest Burnette; son, Donald F. Burnette, II; four granddaughters, Madelene, Meredith, Mallory and Makaney; grandson, Brandon; sisters-in-law, Juanita Burnette, Bettie Morehead and Clara Bell, as well as many special nieces and nephews.
The family would like to send a special thank you to Don’s church family at Shiloh Christian Church, where he had been a member for over 60 years, for their prayers and kindness, also to Denise Shortt, Brittany Lawson and Tammy Hall, of Good Samaritan Hospice for the wonderful care given to him during his illness; and to Greg, Beth and Jacob Dehart and to niece, Elizabeth Burnette and his wonderful neighbors for their many acts of kindness.
Funeral services will be held 2:00 PM – Wednesday, June 12, 2019 at the Bower Funeral Home-Chapel, Pulaski with Pastor Gary Rorrer officiating. Interment will follow at the Shiloh Cemetery, Pulaski, Virginia.
