Obituary for Doris Ann Harrison Wood

Doris Ann Harrison Wood passed away peacefully on Friday, September 8, 2023, in the home of her loving daughter in Shawsville, Virginia.

Doris was a very kind and loving individual who devoted herself to the care of others while working in the Meadowbrook Nursing Home, also in the Shawsville area. Doris was born to Lizzie Ellen McPeak and Willis Harrison on July 19, 1937 in Montgomery County, Virginia.

Left to carry on her legacy are her daughters Rhonda Wood of  Shawsville, Va ; Lynn Cressell (Kevin) of Shawsville, Va; Jo Ann Maul (Dave) of Leesville, SC; and Donna Ramos (Lazaro) of Rose Hill, NC.

Also cherishing the memories are her grandchildren Victor Jones, Hannah Cressell and Hayley Odum and a great grandson Lincoln Odum.

Doris is also survived by a brother, Joe Harrison (Norma) of Pilot and Ruby Buckner of North Carolina.

Doris was also fortunate enough to have a forty-year relationship and companionship with Roger Huff Sr.

Doris had a special friendship with her loving Dachshund Rocky who had remained by her side for the last 12 years.

Family will receive friends in the chapel of Norris Funeral Services, Pulaski Chapel on Wednesday evening, September 13, 2023, from five o’clock until seven.

Funeral Services will begin on Thursday morning, September 14, 2023, at Norris Funeral Services, Pulaski Chapel beginning at eleven o’clock with Pastor Nolan Alley officiating. Interment will be at the Highland Memory Gardens in Dublin.
