Obituary for James Thomas King

James Thomas King, known to friends as “Jim”, of Draper, VA, passed away on Saturday, May 25th, 2019, at the age of 76.

Jim was a proud Veteran of the United States Army.  After his service, he worked in construction as a carpenter and glazier for over 30 years with the International Brotherhood of Painters and Allied Trades, Local Union, # 963.   He was a member of the Church of God of Prophecy in Pulaski, Virginia.

Family was very important to Jim. He loved being a father and deeply enjoyed being a grandfather. During his career in construction, he loved being able to work alongside his brothers and father.  He was an avid sports fan, he loved to fish, and spend time outdoors.

He was preceded and death by his parents, Jesse Franklin Greer King and Lillian Rose (Vires) King and by his brother William Greer King. He is survived by his daughters Tracy Lynn (King) Olson (Shane) and Kelly McMahon (King) Dietz, his grandchildren Kenley Rose Olson and Connor Andrew Dietz, his siblings Virginia Louise (King) Ezzell and Travis Dale King (Gail) and nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be Friday, May 31, 2019, at 10 am at Stevens Funeral Home, Pulaski. Immediately following visitation the funeral services will be at 11am from the funeral home with Dr. Dan Lawson officiating.  Following the services, interment will be held at Highland Memory Gardens, Dublin, VA with full military graveside rites by the United States Army and the VFW Post Pulaski # 1184.
