Obituary for Joanne Josephine Dalton

Joanne Josephine Dalton, 79, of Columbia, Maryland, passed away on Sunday, November 10, 2019, surrounded by her loving family.

Joanne is remembered for being a very talented designer, her exquisite taste was displayed over a vast array of floral, crafts, and interior design creations. Not only were her talents displayed by means of art, but also in the kitchen, being known for her outstanding Italian cooking. Her greatest joy, however, was spending time with her children and grandchildren.

Joanne is preceded in death, by her grandparents, Antonio Pepe and Giovanna Lombardi Pepe, as well as Pasquale Viglione and Gelsomina Arenaccia Viglione; Parents, Nicholas Viglione and Evelyn Pepe; loving husband, Darrell R. Dalton Sr.; brother, Robert Viglione; and a sister Evelyn Caputo.

Left to cherish her memory are her children, Karen Tuggle (Gerald), Darlene West (Steve), Tamie Handwerk (Ron), Darrell Dalton Jr. (Karina), and Ricky Dalton (Suzie); siblings, John Viglione, Richard Viglione, Pasquale Viglione; Grandchildren, Christopher Lewis (Amanda), Kayla Lewis (Brian), Brady Dalton, Nathan Handwerk, Natalie Handwerk, Kaleigh Dalton, Emma Dalton, Leann West, Amanda Tuggle (Adam), and Hope Lewis; She also leaves behind her great-grandchildren, Eli Lewis, Gianna Hartley, and Gage Hartley.

The family will receive friends of Saturday, November 16, 2019, from 12-2:00 p.m. at John M. Oakey & Son Funeral Home, 305 Roanoke Blvd. Salem, VA 24153. A Funeral service will also be held on Saturday, November 16, 2019, at 2:00 p.m., in the John M. Oakey & Son Chapel. Entombment will be held at Sherwood Memorial Park immediately following the service.
