Obituary for Joyce June Hughes

Norris StevensJoyce June Hughes, 87, of Rural Retreat died Friday morning at her home.  Born on June 10, 1935, to William Brigget Hughes and Lilly May Kress Hughes in Pulaski.  Preceded in death by her parents and brothers, William Otis, Arko Divers, Ralph Vernon, Franklin Junior, and Thomas Doulas.

Left to cherish her memory is a brother, James R (JR) Hughes and his wife Chaffin from Rural Hall, North Carolina. Also, a host of special nieces and nephews.

Joyce also had a best friend who sacrificed herself relentlessly to care for her while her health failed, Judy Newby.

Joyce always loved her pets, even right up to her final breaths.  Fur babies, Precious and Mama, her two cats will miss her greatly.

A special thanks to Jamie at the Carilion Clinic Home Care in Tazewell for his special visits and loving professional care.

Visitation will be Wednesday, November 8, from 11:00 to 1:00 with a celebration of her life beginning at 1:00 with Jeff Martin officiating.  Visitation and services will be in the chapel of the Norris-Stevens Funeral Home located at 815 Randolph Avenue in Pulaski.  Interment will follow in the Thornspring Church Cemetery.
