Kenneth Raymond Walker 87 of Dublin, VA (formerly of Bastian, Va.) entered heaven shouting Saturday morning, June 17, 2023.  Kenneth was born December 7, 1935, in Garwood WVA to the late Raymond Kint and Anne Hayes Walker.  The family later moved to Bland, VA where they owned and operated the Brushy Mountain Motel and Restaurant.  Kenneth graduated Bland High School in 1954 where he excelled in basketball and baseball. He played semi-professional baseball, trying out for the New York Yankees at Calfee Park.  He attended Bluefield College and assisted with the management of the family business.  He entered the US Army in 1958 being discharged in 1960 only to be recalled in 1961 during the Cuban Missile Crisis.  He retired from the Radford Army Ammunition Plant.

Kenneth was a man of great faith and love for Jesus Christ.  He evangelized throughout most of his adult life, traveling the US to spread the gospel where he developed many great friendships.

In addition to his parents, Kenneth was preceded in death by his son, Darren Reed Walker, his sister Jeraldine Morehead, and his brothers, Garrett Walker (infant) and Gary Walker

He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Sue Bailey Walker, Dublin, daughter and son-in-law, Carla and Dennis Dean, Draper VA, son, Kevin Walker, Johnson City, TN. Five granddaughters, Audra Walker, Johnson City, TN, Allyssa Walker, Johnson City, TN, Emily Dean, Draper, VA, Amanda and Brad Osborne, Johnson City, TN, Morgan Dean, Richmond, VA.  One great granddaughter, Flora Osborne.  Sisters and brother-in-law, Patricia and Gerald Thomason, Bluefield, WV and Deborah Mathews, Indiana. Several nieces and nephews.  Two lifelong and faithful friends, Paul Hart, Wytheville, VA and Bob Simpkins, Christiansburg, VA

Visitation will begin at 11:00 am Thursday, June 22, 2023, at Bower Funeral Home, 1631 Bob White Blvd, Pulaski, VA.  Funeral services will begin at 1:00 pm.  The burial will take place at Rose Hill Cemetery, Bastian, VA following service. Pastor Shawn Martin will officiate.
