Obituary for Lowwanna “Mickey” Farmer

Lowwanna “Mickey” Farmer, 91, of Avon, passed away peacefully at home on October 27, 2021. She was born to the late Grover and Nora (nee Pugh) Turpin, February 7, 1930, in Roanoke, Virginia. She and her family moved to Ohio in 1947.

Mickey married the late William “Bill” Farmer, and they started their lives together in Lorain, Ohio before settling in Avon in 1959. She is survived by her daughter Robin Farmer of Avon, son Mike (Tracey) Farmer of Avon; daughter-in-law Marilyn (the late Gene Farmer) Arnold; brother Grover “Bud” Turpin (Marilyn); six grandchildren, Jenifer, Shelly, Bill, Samantha, Melanie, Emma; and two great-grandchildren, Darren and Sienna. Mickey was preceded in death by her husband Bill in 2008; her son Gene in 2005; and her daughter Nora in 2017.

Mickey enjoyed being involved in the community and church. During her lifetime she served as a Council person in Avon, sold real estate, worked at McGarvey’s, and worked as a toll booth collector for the Ohio Turnpike. She was also involved in the Eastern Stars, the VFW Post 7035 Women’s Auxiliary and the Avon Athletic Booster Club. Mickey enjoyed being involved at the Good Neighbor Thrift Store and delivering meals on wheels. Her favorite pastime was golf and spending time with family and friends.

Mickey was a passionate supporter of Friendship APL and Avon Lake United Church of Christ. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to either of these organizations in her memory.
