Obituary for Lyle Thomas Comer
Lyle Thomas Comer, 79, of Pulaski, passed away on Monday, January 21, 2019 in Pulaski, VA.
Lyle Thomas Comer was born in Rockbridge County to Charles Edward Comer Jr. and Mattie Bell St. John on May 20, 1939. He graduated from Pulaski High School. He served in the Air Force playing in the United States Air Force Band from 1959-1963. He graduated from King’s College. He worked as an ammunitions inspector for the US Government until his retirement. He was a Shriner, where he served as a volunteer driver to Greenville Shriners Children’s Hospital and circus, a Mason for over 50 years, a past Commander of the American Legion in 1997 with over 50 years membership, a life member of the Disabled American Vets Association.
Lyle is preceded in death by his father and mother, former Chief of Police Charles E. Comer Jr. and Mattie Bell Comer, sister, Jean Comer and son, Ed Comer.
Lyle is survived by his daughter, L.E. Burchett, son-in-law, Mike Burchett, granddaughter, Hannah Burchett, and grandson, Heath Burchett
Visitation will be 6-8 pm Friday January, 25, 2019 at Stevens Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be 2 pm Saturday January 26, 2019 at Trinity Baptist Church in Robinson Tract with the Reverend Johnny Howlett, officiating. Arrangements are by Stevens Funeral Home.

We are so sorry to hear about Lyle. Another friend, John Grinsel, has been trying to reach him for a few weeks or more with no luck. We all knew Lyle in Germany for several years. We enjoyed his company and our daughter called him Uncle Lyle. I just called John to let him know.
