Obituary for Nellie Mae Morris

Nellie Mae Morris, 84, gained her heavenly wings on Tuesday, November 26.

Nellie was Born in Pulaski, Virginia on June 5, 1935. She spent many years working 3^rd shift while caring and providing for her children. She spent 17 years at Jefferson Mills and 17 years at Klopman Mills. She also worked at Bond Cote and Goodwill.

Early on, Nellie could be seen walking all over town with her friend Mabel.  She loved doing crafts and collecting giraffes. She spent the last few years at Bradley Ridge where you could find her rocking on the front porch and chatting with her neighbors. She always looked for the best in everyone she met and ensured that her family knew the value of a hard day’s work.

Nellie was preceded in death by her parents Simon and Arminta Edwards, son Joey Morris, husband Albert Morris, sister Delphia (Tootsie) Anderson, and brothers Junior Edwards and Kenneth Edwards.

Nellie is survived by her siblings Clarise Gallimore and Dallas Edwards. Her loving children Veronica Clyburn and husband Jackie, Chuck Morris and wife Susan, Sandy Morris, Randall Morris and wife Jackie, and Teeka Sutphin and husband Brian. Her grandchildren Shannon Rumery, Jordan Morris and wife Ali, Skyla Ausel and husband Patrick, Brayden Morris, MaKayla Morris, Chelsea McAlpin and husband Kaleb, and Zachary Sutphin. Her great grandchildren Ryleigh Rumery, and Emory McAlpin.

Visitation will be from 12 pm to 2 pm on Saturday, November 31 at Stevens Funeral Home. The funeral will follow at 2 pm. The Reverend Dan Lawson will officiate the service. The burial will follow the service at Thornspring Cemetery in Pulaski.
