Obituary for Paul Dailey Underwood

It is with great sadness for our family that we announce the death of a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend, Paul Dailey Underwood who passed on March 21, 2023.

Born December 28, 1933 in Popular Hill, Virginia, he was preceded in death by his parents  Charles and Lucy Underwood. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by brothers, Richard and Clifford Underwood and sisters, Nina Underwood, Vivian Waldron, Myrtle Rigney and Opal Deck.

He grew up on Little Creek at the family farm.

He married Elizabeth (Libby) Blankenship 12-24-55 in Wytheville, VA. Libby resides with their daughter and their family in Herndon.  His work as a steamfitter with the government had him moving his family from Little Creek to Northern Virginia.  He retired early 2001 working at the Pentagon.

They had two children. Norma Underwood Huntington and spouse, Bill Huntington resides in Herndon, VA.  their children, Ethan Huntington (31) and Meagan Huntington (29) and

Steven Dailey Underwood resides in Pulaski, VA.  Two Children Tina Underwood (43) and her children Charlene Byrd & Madison Byrd In addition, daughter, Nicki Shepherd.

Besides spending time with his family, he loved to spend time at the family farm on Little Creek, sitting by the cabin or the chimney of his family home looking out at the fields watching the cattle and any wildlife that would venture out.

Dailey is survived by one sister, Alva Suttle of Dublin, VA, and many nephews and their families.

He will be dearly missed.  We love you Daddy!

A celebration of his life will be held Wednesday, 2:00 p.m. ,March 29, 2023 Bower Funeral Home Chapel,  Pulaski  with burial to follow at Highland Memory Gardens in Dublin, VA

Visitation will be Wednesday one hour prior to service time at the funeral home.
