Obituary for Pearl Mae (Jones) Bishop

Pearl Mae (Jones) Bishop, 78 years old, born April 15, 1939 in Blackwater, Kentucky, entered Heaven’s gates on March 12, 2018 at Wythe County Community Hospital, Wytheville, Va. while rested peacefully. Pearl was a 30 year resident of Wytheville, Va. She loved the Virginia Mountains, the spring time breezes and the light snow fall. She was a #1 fan of Elvis Presley. She loved to travel, “pick” at yard sales and attend country music concerts. She deeply loved her family, her friends and her neighbors. She was both accepting and giving. She will be deeply missed. She spent her career in food service where she enjoyed meeting people, creating good food and sharing in meaningful conversation.

She is survived by: three children, Thomas Bishop Junior of Lawrenceville, GA., David Bishop of Rock Hill, SC., and Nancy Bishop of Wytheville, VA.; five grandchildren, Megan Damon of Jasper, GA., Brandy Richardson of Lancaster, SC., Nathan King of Wytheville, VA., Paige Robinson of Rock Hill, SC., Brayden Bishop of Wytheville, VA., and two great grandchildren, Hunter Richardson and Paxton Robinson.

Surviving siblings: Donald Jones and Carolyn of Hartford City, IN; Carolyn Silk of London, KY., Tom Taflinger and Charline of Bayview TX., John Taflinger and Mai of Honolulu, HI., James Taflinger Sr. of Max Meadows, VA., Shellane Jones of London, KY., Billie Jean Wyatt and Bobby of Reidsville, NC., Gloria Mitchell and Earl of Cleves OH. Preceded in death by Ophard Jones – Father, Amanda Taflinger (Jones) – Mother, Bessie Jones – Step Mother, Robert Wayne Taflinger – Brother, Bill Barret – Brother, Kinsley Marie Robinson – Great Grand-Daughter.
