Obituary for Phyllis Anne Jackson Holliman

Phyllis Anne Jackson Holliman age 78, passed away peacefully in her home on October 17, 2018.  Phyllis Anne was born on April 8, 1940 in Max Meadows, and was the daughter of the late Sadie Adams Jackson and Fred A. Jackson.  Phyllis Anne was retired from New River Community College and had both a Master’s Degree in Psychology/Counseling and a Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology/Education/Business from Radford University.  Phyllis Anne’s tenure at NRCC included duties as an adjunct faculty member and career counselor.  Prior to her service and retirement from NRCC, Phyliss Anne served as Grant Specialist at at Virginia Tech, an Employment Supervisor at NRV Agengy on Aging, a Supervisory

Contract Specialist for the Radford Arsenal, an Alcohol Counselor/Court Liaison and Intake Coordinator for the NRV Council on Alcoholism, a unit Psychologist for Southwestern State Hospital, and a Secretary for the Office of Civil Defense.  Phyllis Anne’s personal interests included landscaping, house design, decorating, crafts, travel and volunteer work, and she was a member of First Christian Church, Disciples of Christ, in Pulaski.  In addition to parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Dr. Rhodes Burns Holliman, and his son, Dr. Daniel R. Holliman, as well as her sister, Wanda Jackson Fisher.  Phyllis Anne is survived by her daughter, Monica Eller Banks (Robert) of Charlotte, NC; her husband’s son and daughter-in-law, Dr. and Mrs. James (Jim) and Karen Holliman of Hershey, PA; a grandson, Christopher Eller Banks of Charlotte, NC; brother and sister-in-law, Dennis and Janet Jackson of Pulaski; brother and sister-in-law, Bobby and Martha Jackson of Draper; her husband’s four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren as well as several nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, and friends.  A special thank you from Phyllis Anne’s family to her dedicated and compassionate caregivers, Martha, Twila, Suzanne, Traci, Kayla, and Judy, as well as Robin of Medi Home Health and Hospice.  The Family will receive friends on Thursday, October 25th at 12:00 noon at Seagle Funeral Home in Pulaski.  A memorial service will immediately follow at 2:00 p.m. with The Reverend Randy Winn officiating.  In addition to floral remembrances, donations may be made in memory of Phyllis Anne to St. Jude’s or the Shriner’s Children’s Hospital.
