Obituary for Randal B. “Benny” Turner

Randal B. Turner “Benny” Sergeant First Class retired, 90, of Fancy Gap, VA

passed away on September 28, 2021 after a long illness.

He was born to parents Reverend Bud T. Turner and Gertrude Turner, on March

24, 1931 in Dublin, Pulaski County. He enlisted in the military at an early age and

served 23 years, 5 years in the Air Force and 18 years in the army. He served

tours in Germany, Korea, two tours in Vietnam and was stationed in numerous

other locations. He was awarded two Purple Hearts and a bronze star. After

leaving the military he worked at Volvo Trucks in Dublin, VA until his retirement.

He was a member of the Disabled American Veterans (DAV) and the Veterans of

Foreign Wars (VFW). Randy enjoyed traveling, fishing, hunting and gardening.

Randy is survived by two sons; Randall “Doug” Turner (Donna), Jerry W. Turner

(Jeannie), three step-children, three grandchildren, two step-grandchildren, six

great grandchildren and seven great step-grandchildren. He is survived by three

sisters; JoAnne Chappell, Easley, SC, Barbara Gosnell, Dublin, VA, Melissa

Corvin, Walkertown, NC and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews

.Randy was preceded in death by parents Reverend Bud and Gertrude Turner,

step-parents Harry and Virgie Turner Anderson, first wife Jewell Grantham

Munford, second wife Linda Lyons Turner, three brothers; Coy Turner Sr.,

Edward Turner, John Turner and seven sisters; Lois Lane, Marie Walker, Virginia

Turner, Penny Collins, Jean Moran, Maryellen Hutchinson and Jacqueline Fuller.

Funeral services with military honors will be held at 2:00pm on Sunday, October

3, 2021 at Stevens Funeral Home, 815 Randolph Avenue Pulaski, VA.  Visitation

will be 1:00 PM until the service hour.   Burial to follow after services at Newbern

Cemetery in Dublin.
