Obituary for Roy Ken Hunter

hunter roy kenRoy Ken Hunter, age 85 of Pulaski County, died Friday November 11, 2022 at Kroontje Warm Hearth Village in Blacksburg.  Roy was born on August 30, 1937, in Sanford, North Carolina, and was the son of the late Bertie Mae Knott Hunter and the late Frank Norris Hunter. Roy was a retired employee at A.T.&T., having worked for twenty-nine years in the Human Resource Department.  He was a veteran, having served for five years in the United States Air Force.

Locally, people may remember Roy who was active many years ago in the Dublin Lions Club.  Roy was also a life member of the Masons since 1966, a member of Dublin United Methodist Church and a lifetime member of the Pulaski Country Club.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his spouse, who was the love of his life, Jacquelyn Ann Gallogly Hunter, who passed away April 25, 2014:  three brothers; David O’Dell Hunter, Frank Norris Hunter, and Harry Lee Hunter:  sister; Mary Elizabeth Hunter

Roy is survived by two sisters-in-law:  Mary Reasoner and her husband William of Venice, Florida, Kathleen Van Note and her husband David of North Conway, New Hampshire and his brother-in-law Thomas Gallogly and wife Sydney of Stuart, Florida. Other nieces and nephews also survive.

Roy was a compassionate, decent, caring person and with his true soulmate, Jackie, they spent decades deeply in love and strongly committed to helping others through life’s hurdles. Roy was deeply loved by his family and others who had the privilege of knowing him. The community was a better place because of Roy and Jackie Hunter.

Roy was a very bright person with a sparkle in his eyes and a big heart; always ready to help others. He had a great sense of humor, on the impish side, which sometimes got him in trouble but with that twinkle and smile he’d be forgiven. Roy and Jackie are back together sharing their now and forever.

Per Roy’s wishes, the family and friends will share a private gathering and Celebration of his Life sometime in the future.
