Obituary for Sue Anthony Bopp

Sue Anthony Bopp, passed away peacefully on April 6, 2022. Sue was born in Pulaski, Virginia to the late Carl Anthony Bopp and Dorothy Kitts Bopp.

She is survived by her dear devoted sister, Lynn Bopp White (Pood) and her husband, George of Georgetown, South Carolina and her brother, Charles Robert Bopp and wife, Kathy of Pulaski; niece and god daughter, Erin Craig (Eric) and Wyatt, Caroline and Anna Kate, McClellenville, South Carolina; niece, Rebecca Bopp and Nephew, Robert Bopp and wife, April of Pulaski and their children, Hannah, Luke and Allyson, and by dear, devoted, much-loved special friends and companions, Dr. Barbara V. Goodman and Kay and Jay Freeman.

Sue was very proud of her Radford University BS degree, as well as her Master’s Degree in geology. While at Radford, she was a member of the Red Coats Equestrian Team. Her teaching career spanned 30 years, beginning at Sussex Central High School and continuing at Colonial Heights High School where she was a dedicated and beloved teacher as reflected by comments from many former students who fondly shared with her how she positively influenced their lives and made them laugh.

Sue loved her connections to friends from her teacher’s lunch group, her Radford cronies, former students, the Goodman family, Wendas, Janel, PC, and colleagues from her many part-time work venues (Thalhimers, Ukrops/Martins and Cracker Barrel) where she was recognized by management and by customers, even long after she left each workplace, for going the extra mile with a smile.

At the top of her list for fun was traveling anywhere with her best friends Barbara and Kay where laughter was always present. Her kitchen was her domain and she loved cooking up Southern food delights – especially after getting a new recipe from The Food Channel or from one of her nearly 100 cookbooks. Her feistiness, tenacity, home-cooked meals, loyalty, dedication, sense of humor and infectious smile will be sorely missed.

A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, April 23, 2022 at 2:00 P.M. at the Colonial Heights Chapel of E. Alvin Small Funeral Homes and Crematory, 2033 Boulevard, Colonial Heights, VA 23834.
