Obituary for Sue Brillheart Carden
“Memaw, Mom, Mama Sue” Brillheart Carden peacefully left this earthly life on January 15, 2021 at 9:20pm in her beloved home on Maple Street. Waiting at Heaven’s door was her husband, Big Al, her parents, Jerry Allen and Hazel Jennings Brillheart (Papa and Mimi), her brother, Jerry Brillheart (Jimmy) and many cousins, including Fred Beamer (Bubba) and Ann Ferrell (Annie Ronney).
Mama Sue is leaving the charge to “carry on and do good things” to her four children, Sarah, Nick, Tony and Amy, along with eight grandchildren, Chris, Jesse, Andrew, Josh, Gray, Jacob, Jordan and Hannah, and four great grandchildren, C.J., Ashton, Cici and Archie. Her greatest joy and love could be seen when family was gathered and she felt immense pride in the closeness we all share with each other. Suffice it to say, Mama Sue’s “river of life” ran deep and the ripples are still being felt. We will honor her kind heart, her sense of humor, and her sweet loving embraces for decades to come.
During this time of the Covid pandemic, there will be no formal service and no need for flowers. Mama Sue’s love for youth and sports tells us that in lieu of flowers, a donation to the Dublin United Methodist Church Youth Fund at 424 E. Main Street, Dublin VA 24084 is welcome, and due to the extraordinary efforts of Good Samaritan Hospice, donations can also be made to 2408 Electric Road, Roanoke VA 24018.

I am so thankful that we were able to spend a wonderful evening with Sue last October in her beautiful home on Maple Street. She was in such good spirits and we all laughed so much. Amy was with Sue and had prepared a wonderful gathering for our visit. Sarah, Nicky, Tony and Amy – Lane and I send you our thoughts, love and prayers. I will always have fond memories of your mom and dad. Trish and Lane Davidson, Minden, LA

Just became aware of Sue’s passing. Always enjoyed staying at her and Uncle Alfred’s home when visiting relatives in Virginia. Hope all her children are doing well.
