Obituary for Walter Ryan “Wally” Brockmeyer

Walter Ryan Brockmeyer, known affectionately as Wally,  67, of Shiloh, Virginia,  passed away at his home on November 2nd, 2018 of natural causes.  His wife and lifelong love, Carol, along with his parents,  Milton and Elva, preceded him in death and rejoiced with the rest of heaven when Wally joined them.

Wally was born in Pulaski, Virginia on December 15, 1951 to Milton and Elva Ryan Brockmeyer. He was a graduate of Pulaski High School class of 1970.  He served in the United States Navy as an E5, petty officer,  1st class.  After serving his country,  Wally was employed by The Appalachian Power Company.  Wally married his sweetheart,  Carol Hall,  and they had two sons, Ryan and Adam.

To know Wally was to love him.  He had a kind word and smile for everyone he encountered.  He was a friend to all and treated everyone like a someone.  Wally loved riding motorcycles,  and enjoyed riding with his late father,  sons,  grandchildren,  and friends.  He also enjoyed weight lifting. He was funny, charming, witty, and kind.  He loved fiercely and had a servant’s heart that carried an abundance of love and forgiveness.  His life’s legacy is the kindness and love he shared with everyone.

God and family were the most important aspects of Wally’s life.  He was a proud and lifelong member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Pulaski.  He was the best crucifer and acolyte, and proud bass in the choir.

Left behind to cherish his memory and legacy are his beloved sons and daughters-in-law and  grandchildren:  Ryan and Sarah of Fairlawn and their daughters Selah and Josie,  and Adam and Jessie of Pulaski and their daughter,  Maggie,  and sons,  Grayson and Brigham.

Also cherishing his memory are his sisters and brother-in-law,  Dianne Brockmeyer of Richmond,  VA, and Carolyn and Dennis Willaman of Holland,  MI. His brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Walter (Buddy) Felts and Sheila,  and sister-in-law,  Joy Cooley, all of Shiloh, VA. His nephews, Lee and Tyler Felts, Chase Cooley, and nieces Ashley Gearheart, and Elizabeth Willaman. His cousins,  Susan and Jeff Bain, Tommy and Sue Stone,  Martha Lynn Wilson, Myron and Diane Aust, and Milton and Brenda Aust.

Wally spent most of his time being a ray of sunshine for everyone he came in contact with,  and lived for his family,  especially his beloved grandchildren.  His presence and infectious smile will be missed by everyone in the community, especially his family.  He was a man amongst men,  a loving husband,  father,  and grandfather, and the finest, kindest man in all the land.
