Owens hired as school system’s new transportation manager

Pulaski County Public Schools is pleased to announce the hiring of Jonathan Owens as the new Transportation Manager for the school system.
Owens, a resident of Dublin, began in his new position immediately upon hiring. An alumnus from the PCHS Class of 2006, he graduated from Bluefield University with a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Management and Leadership, then earned his Master’s Degree in Business Administration with a minor in Human Resources from Liberty University.
Owens, who served in the U.S. Army as an 88L, Watercraft Engineer, brings a long list of skills and experience to the position. He has worked in manufacturing, material handling, sales, home improvement, and security. His duties ranged from customer service to operating equipment and safety. He is certified as an EMT and Fire Fighter in the Commonwealth of Virginia.
“I’m excited to take on the challenges that will come with this new position and look forward to working with the staff in the school system,” Owens said.
His new position will see him responsible for developing several areas, including developing efficient bus routes, supervising a staff of bus drivers, supervising pupil transportation car drivers, supervision of transportation paraprofessionals, supervision of transportation office personnel, recruitment of drivers, coordinating training for all drivers and paraprofessionals, assisting school administration with bus discipline issues, and develop transportation reports. This position requires strong proven abilities in organizations, leadership and human relationships.
