PCHS’s Ratcliff co-player of the year; Sutphin top coach

Pulaski County senior point guard Maddie Ratcliff was named last evening as the Co-Player of the Year in girls River Ridge District basketball. Ratcliff led her Cougar team, averaging over 14 points per game, and leading in assists as well. She was an All-RRD player as a junior.

    And Cougar Brad Sutphin was named the “Coach of the Year” in the River Ridge as well. Last season Sutphin took the program all the way to the Class 4 state championship game, and this season finished first in the regular season with a perfect 12-0 record in the district and 18-6 overall, and his Cougars will be second seeded as the Class 4, Region D playoffs get underway at 6 pm at PCHS Friday. The Lady Cougars will host GW-Danville.
     There was another first team selection for the Lady Cougars. Young freshman Keslyn Secrist who averaged over 12 points per game was honored with a first team spot. Alley Fleener, also a double figure scorer and the leading rebound for the Cougars was named to the second team. Alaina Akers and Paige Huff were named honorable mention.
