Peak Creek Bridge closing date set for June 17

Area residents who routinely travel across Peak Creek Bridge on Old Route 100 take note – the bridge will be closed starting June 17 for a total rebuild.

Virginia Department of Transportation officials notified Pulaski County this week of the closing date.

According to County Administrator Jonathan Sweet, the project to replace the bridge over Peak Creek on Old Route 100 (F-047) has been awarded to Alleghany Construction Company at a bid price of $4.4 million.

Sweet said the completion date on the contract with Alleghany is November 1, 2020.

“This does not mean the bridge will be closed the entire time and I will keep the Board of Supervisors updated on when closures will occur,” Sweet said.

Watch for traffic detours and more information on the project as the closing date nears.
