Person injured as Castleton Road party erupts in gunfire

On Sunday, June 25, 2023 shortly after midnight, the Wythe County Sheriff’s Office was called to a large party in the 2200 block of Castleton Road where shots had been fired.

Deputies arrived to find a very large number of people. Deputies were able to determine there had been a shooting from evidence found at the scene.

Deputies were notified shortly after the initial call that a person with a gunshot wound was arriving at Twin County Regional Hospital in Galax.

Wythe County Sheriff’s deputies are conducting interviews and processing evidence as this is an ongoing criminal investigation.

The victim is listed in critical condition.
