Pinckney gives Hokies 12th commit

Virginia Tech got its 12th football commitment Tuesday evening from wide receiver Jocoby Pinckney of Roebuck, South Carolina. Pinckey is a three star recruit, and his final choices appeared to come down between the Hokies, Duke, NC-State, Carolina, South Carolina, Arkansas, Michigan, and Indiana.

Tech’s recruiting for 2019 now has a dozen commitments and is ranked as the 24th best class in the nation by Rivals at this juncture. The Hokies have four, 4-star recruits, and eight, 3-star recruits committed.

Pinckney is 6-3, 192, and is rated 55th among wide receivers.  Virginia Tech currently has the fourth highest rated recruiting class for 2019 among Atlanta Coast Conference schools. Clemson’s class is rated 3 nationally, Florida State 10, and Miami 11. Pitt comes behind VY’s 24 with a 27th ranking. To the surprise of many, the next best class in the ACC resides in Charlottesville.

Virginia has made one of the biggest jumps in the nation over the past two weeks, vaulting up over 20 spots in the rankings to 32. UVa has gotten nine commitments in June, and now has 16 recruits in its 2019 class which features two, 4-star recruits, and eight, 3-stars.
