Police warn of AEP phone scam

The Pulaski Police Department would like to warn the public of scam phone calls regarding power bills.

The caller claims to be from American Electric Power (AEP) and states the victim’s power will be shut off if they do not pay over the phone.  The victim is then instructed to purchase a prepaid card and call back with the numbers and information on the card.

If you receive this call, simply hang up. Check your statement if you still question the validity, and call the number on the AEP billing statement.

If you are a victim of this scam, or have any questions, please contact Pulaski Police Department at (540) 994-8680.
