Pulaski County High NHS chapter wins national honor

PC Public SchoolsDublin, VA – For its exemplary record of leadership, service, and efforts to improve the school and community, the National Honor Society (NHS) awarded Pulaski County High School the Chapter of Distinction award. NHS is supported by its parent organization, the National Principals Association (NPA), which also oversees the National Association of Student Councils.

 

Throughout the year, Pulaski County High School NHS members demonstrated a strong commitment to service, leadership, and community involvement. Members completed over 2,000 hours of service in the community and were recognized by the United Nations Association of the USA (UNA-USA) and InnerView earning a National Sapphire Award. Additionally, 12 students received national awards for service.

Throughout the year, NHS students completed independent service projects, assisted with school events, hosted a food drive, cleaned roadways, and much more. Chapter officers strengthened their leadership skills by collaborating and taking initiative during the NHS induction ceremony, and stepping into their leadership roles when needed.

 

“The NHS Chapter of Distinction Award celebrates chapters that truly embody what the National Honor Society stands for—students who don’t just excel academically but actively strengthen their communities,” said NPA CEO Ronn Nozoe. “The Pulaski County High School chapter demonstrates how powerful it can be when young leaders channel their talents toward meaningful service and positive change.”

 

The NHS Chapters of Distinction is a national recognition program created by NHS to honor chapters that demonstrate strong leadership, sound operations, and a deep commitment to the pillars of the Honor Society. This distinction recognizes chapters that meet all Essential Standards and excel in key areas such as student governance and leadership development. Pulaski County High School NHS has met this distinction in 3 out of 5 areas, including chapter legacy, local engagement, and administrative transparency.
