Pulaski County launches new online jobs site on Facebook

April 9, 2019, the Pulaski County Board of Supervisors and the Economic Development Authority has successfully implemented another project within their new workforce innovation initiative and has launched the County’s first on-line repository for employment opportunities exclusive to Pulaski County, Virginia at:  www.facebook.com/Pulaski-County-VA-Jobs

“This project is going to prove to be a valuable tool for recruiting new talent to Pulaski County and filling our many employment opportunities that are available or being created within our robust business and industrial community,” stated Jonathan D. Sweet, County Administrator.  “We are looking to utilize every available resource at our disposal to support our county employers and want to encourage all our businesses to take advantage of this free resource.”

The Pulaski County Jobs Facebook page already has 20 companies participating in the project, with over 50 jobs posted, 633 follows and 624 likes with 4,173 posts reached in just the first week.  The County’s intent is to heavily market the Facebook page through various media outlets, word-of-mouth, radio and internet-based mediums.

“We have to find new ways of meeting both the existing and future workforce needs of Pulaski County and we feel technology and social media platforms are going to be of significant value to linking up our employers with jobseekers,” stated Jon Wyatt, Chair of the Economic Development Authority.  “There is some good work being done by the EDA in the workforce development arena and I would like to thank my fellow Authority members, the Board of Supervisors and the economic development staff for their vision and efforts to employ creativity in meeting our existing business needs.”

Peter Huber, the County’s first recently appointed Workforce Innovation Advisor, has been spearheading the project and coordinating with various employment opportunity partners within the county, such as Marty Holliday, Kimber Simmons, and Jon Cash at the New River/Mounty Rogers Workforce Services Board, along with Virginia Workforce Services, Goodwill Industries and other staffing agencies.  The creative team of Ryder Deal, Kim Wright and Brian Etzel worked on the development of the Facebook page as well as the ‘Jobs’ posters seen placed all over the community.
