Pulaski County Schools on “Shelter in Place” status

Pulaski County Schools issued the following statement on their Facebook page:

All of Pulaski County Public Schools have been placed on a “Shelter In Place” status. This status means that schools will be operating as usual but faculty and staff will be on a higher state of alert and additional police officers will be on hand to assist with supervision. This change in status is a cautionary step that was taken after school administrators were notified that a “person of interest” in a North Carolina police investigation had left the state and might be traveling through our area. All visitors to the school will have their ID’s checked. This is a precautionary measure as we do not have reason to believe that this person will show up on any of our school campuses. We greatly appreciate everyone’s patience and understanding.
