Pulaski hurlers hold down Bristol, 6-1

Dominant pitching leads the Pulaski River Turtles to a 6-1 win over the Bristol State Liners on Friday night.

Pulaski’s pitching staff impressed, combining for just six hits, one run (none earned), one walk, and nine strikeouts.

Bristol got on the board first, where an RBI single from center fielder Aaron Graeber put them up 1-0 after three.

After that, Pulaski took complete control, scoring six unanswered.

The first of Pulaski’s runs came in the fourth, where Bristol walked with bases loaded to bring in left fielder Ryan Moerman. Then, new addition Gage Goddard followed that up with an RBI single that brought in second baseman Ryan Johnson to make it 2-1 after four.

In the sixth, designated hitter Owen Deshazo hit a blooper into no-man’s land in left field. This brought in right fielder Christian Smith and shortstop Gage Goddard to make it 4-1 heading into the seventh.

The final runs of the game came in the bottom of the eighth. The first came off a homer to right- center field from third baseman Ryland Zaborowski (7). The final run of the game came of a wild pitch that brought in Smith to make the final 6-1.

The winner on the mound went to hometown kid, Avery Mabe. Mabe impressed in six innings of relief, allowing just four hits, one run (none earned), walking none, while striking out seven.

Mabe’s performance earned him Player of the Game.

The loss went to Bristol starter, Fidel Ulloa. He went five innings, with three hits, two earned runs, walking five, and striking out six.

Pulaski will look to continue their success on Saturday, with a rematch against Bristol.
