Pulaski man charged in 2nd degree murder
A Pulaski man is behind bars following his arrest Saturday (Feb. 23) by the Virginia State Police.
Brent E. Harrell, 19, of Pulaski has been charged with 2nd degree murder for the death of Chandler S. Dowell, 19, of Fairlawn.
Shortly after 2 a.m. Saturday (Feb. 23), Harrell and Dowell got into a verbal altercation outside Harrell’s residence in the 7800 block of Cleburne Boulevard in Pulaski County, near the Pulaski County – Giles County line.
During the course of the altercation, Harrell stabbed Dowell. The weapon was recovered at the scene.
Dowell was transported to a nearby hospital where he was declared deceased. His remains were transported to the Office of the Medical Examiner in Roanoke for examination and autopsy.
Harrell was arrested at the scene without incident. He is being held at the New River Regional Jail without bond.
The murder remains under investigation by the Virginia State Police Bureau of Criminal Investigation’s Wytheville Field Office.
