Radford football coach, Saunders steps down

The Patriot has learned that Radford High School Head Football Coach Matthew Saunders has stepped down.

Sources say Saunders said it was just time after 14 years of coaching the Bobcats.

His time at Radford was successful, taking the team to 11 playoff appearances.

The Bobcats, under Saunders’ leadership, won three Three Rivers District titles, three Region C crowns and a state runner-up finish during his tenure.

He finished with a 96-65 record with Radford and 105-76 overall. Saunders spent two years as head coach at Castlewood High School.
